Occupational Diseases Department

        The predecessor of this department is the Occupational Diseases Specialist Group, founded in 1966 by Professor Zhang Jimei, a nationally renowned expert in treating occupational diseases and reorganized into the Occupational Diseases Department in January 1975, one of the departments in Xi'an Central Hospital with unique characteristics. With 40 years of history, it has enjoyed a high reputation in domestic: listed as the " Xi'an Treatment Center for Poisoning" in 1999; honored as "National Advanced Group of Occupational Health" in 2000; approved by Shaanxi  Department of Health as "Advantage Medical Specialties of Shaanxi Province in December 2001; approved by Xi'an Health Bureau Approved as "Xi'an Institute of Occupational Diseases" in 2003 and gained the Occupational Disease Diagnostic Agency Certification in September that year authorized by Shaanxi Department of Health; authorized by the Ministry of Health, National Development and Reform Commission as "Shaanxi Chemical Poisoning Treatment Base" in 2005; approved as Xi’an predominant medical studies by Xi'an Health Bureau and Xi'an Science and Technology Bureau and approved as Shaanxi Health Emergency Rescue Team by  Shaanxi Health Department in 2009.  
        There are total 26 medical staff in the Occupational Diseases Department and Poisoning Centre, in which 7 with senior titles, constituting en excellent subject echelon. The department is set up with 18 beds and 3 rescuing rooms. The work procedures in this department have strict standards, such as: diagnosis program of occupational diseases, examination procedures of occupational health, treatment procedures of acute poisoning, treatment procedures of common poisoning and collective poisoning. Occupational disease gaugership has 12 rooms, covers an area of 200 square meters and equipped with large equipment, including gas chromatography, atomic fluorescence photometer, atomic absorption spectrometry (blood lead, blood cadmium analyzer, trace element analyzer), gas and mass spectrometry, Plasma emission spectrometer, portable gas chromatography, fluoride ion selective electrode. The clinic and scientific research, coupled with these equipment can efficiently accomplish toxicological testing and clinical testing. 
        Occupational disease diagnosis, occupational health examination and laboratory accreditation have also been approved by the Shaanxi Department of Health (Occupational Diseases Diagnosis Institution (2014) No. 004).
Landmark Technologies:
⑴Firstly introduces the ZPP measurement technology and participates in the development of domestic equipment and is responsible for the development of zinc protoporphyrin standard substance in erythrocyte (secondary standard substance), GBW (E) 090007, GBW (E) 090008, GBW (E) 090009 determination method and ZPP normal determination.
⑵Good at the diagnosis of occupational diseases, particularly the diagnosis of complicated occupational diseases and the diagnosis and treatment of lead poisoning, and is in charge of the formulation of "Diagnostic Criteria for Occupational Chronic Lead Poisoning" and "Diagnostic Criteria for Occupational Acute Methyl Bromide Poisoning " Which have been approved by the National Standards Commission in 2002 as the occupational disease diagnosis standards and implemented. We participated in the draft of "Diagnostic Criteria for Occupational Acute Phosphine Poisoning" and "Diagnostic Criteria for Occupational Acute Carbamate Pesticide Poisoning". 
⑶We use "Chemical Poisoning Database" in clinic. Over the years, it has received poisoning counseling telephones from all over the country, which has produced good social and economic benefits.
⑷Emergency treatment of acute chemical poisoning, especially the diagnosis and treatment of occult chemical poisoning, has, for many years, guided emergency rescue work in dozens of acute poisoning incidents inside and outside the province and achieved complete success. Moreover, it participated in the complicated poisoning consultation for hundreds of times in the major hospitals and also achieved good results, such as: chlorine poisoning of more than 70 people, botulism, puffer fish poisoning, acute thallium poisoning, tetramine poisoning, TOCP, mixed pesticide poisoning, oral phosphorus poisoning, paraquat poisoning treatment, metal poisoning, drug poisoning, food poisoning and so on.
(5) In the spring of 2005, it was the first clinic to carry out chemical poisoning and lead poisoning in the northwest China.
